Update

It looks like winter is finally arriving, can't really complain after the rather fine weather we have had during October.

We have seen a real uptake on the Nordic Shower heads with many individuals, businesses and even local authorities making purchases in order to reduce their water and related hot water consumption. We have had some really good feedback on how they perform (with 85% reporting a better shower experience, 10% no difference and 5% a drop in shower experience). For businesses and authorities the added benefit of having a lime scale free guarantee for 5 years is a major plus, with maintenance of showers a high Health & Safety priority.

We have some exciting new products coming out in December and early part of January 2012 and we are continuing to focus our attention on resource consumption products that can reduce water, gas or electricity usage and the directs costs associated with using them,

One of our new products that is now available is the external solar sensor light which does not need any cables, weight of 1kg, 4000mAh battery that fully charged will last one month without any further charging. So for the purpose of security and convenience lighting this product really is very practical and what is more it is very durable and built to take the winters in the UK !

Bad news came in the form that the government announced that it will be reducing the Feed in Tariff (FIT) associated with solar panel installation in the home from 43.3p/kWh to 21p/kWh. The government has provided around 8 weeks notice of this change

Not only was this a shock to all (as the government had committed itself to a greener UK) but it will no doubt put an end to a lot of small businesses that have focused on installing PV to domestic dwellings and that were competing well with the big boys (although the rent a roof scheme will be dead and buried) and more importantly creating local employment. From the consumers point of view, this will no doubt raise questions in people's minds as to whether renewable energy linked to government sponsored schemes are really beneficial and have any longevity, in this case installations completed. certificated and notified by the 12th December 2011 will continue to receive the 43.3p/kWh but who is to say that this will not be changed and that any future initiative are to be trusted. Payback period for an average installation was around 7/8 years and this will now increase to around 15 years.
To all the small guys out there out hearts go out to you, just as things were beginning to move and consumers were talking about PV, getting quotes and deciding whether to proceed you have had the rug pulled from under your feet!
